In December, 2015, we reported how a Burien Police officer lost a semi-automatic rifle that fell out of the back of his patrol SUV that had stopped to deploy spike strips during a pursuit.
The King County Sheriff’s Office even offered a $1,000 reward for the missing rifle at the time.
Turns out that the lost Bushmaster XM15-E2S was recently found in the apartment of a two-time felon, and The Seattle Times has an excellent story about its mysterious discovery.
“What is clear is that police records, emergency-dispatch audio, witness accounts and charging documents that outline the rifle’s journey make for a strange tale.”

Good job. I wonder how many crimes it was involved with in the 16 months it was missing?
Long guns (rifles and shotguns) are seldom the choice of lawbreakers. Too hard to conceal.
I sure haven’t heard of any crimes being committed locally with an AR-15 in the last 16 months.
Has anyone else?
“As for Gonzales, he failed to show up for his arraignment on Monday. A judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest.”
Look for him at the Burien library, just like the bank robber today.
