Amazing Adventures!

Joan M. Thomas, RN, BSNA, local Author, illustrator and inspirational speaker is also a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Joan’s amazing adventures began in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where she was raised and attended the Moravian Church. Her life is the inspiration for her first and second books, “Mimi’s Gift” and “Mimi’s Sunrise Surprise.”

Joan’s timeless and inspiring books focus on hope, faith, dreams, and how to live out an authentic faithful life during tumultuous times. The books confront the most important life issues and invite readers of all ages to move past the question, “why is this happening to me and my family.” They assist in asking, “How can I respond to this situation, improve it, and improve myself while helping others?” The books encourage readers to see life as a series of challenges and amazing adventures! Joan’s books are housed in the Moravian historical archives in Bethlehem, PA and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Joan Thomas is a long-time resident of Des Moines, Washington and an active church and community volunteer. Joan recently downsized and began a whole new adventure herself as she moved into Solstice Senior Living at Normandy Park.

“This is an independent living residence where I can enjoy being a part of the community, building relationships, activities, and continue speaking, writing, and illustrating,” she said. “It is an ideal location that supports everything that is important to me.”

Joan made sure she chose the right apartment that suited her and her belongings. She will tell anyone and everyone how much she adores her space and that it is perfect! She calls it, “Joan’s just enough place” because it is just enough that she needs to be happy. Joan is active in the community spreading her positivity and cheer, hoping to send her message to seniors who are considering their next steps, to start a new journey and adventure with her, at Solstice Senior Living at Normandy Park.
