Aya Yoga Oasis: A Place to Belong

Aya Yoga Oasis was founded in 2019 by Carrie Johnson and Stephen Lillie with a simple vision: to create a hyper-local space in Burien where every student feels seen, welcomed, and supported. At Aya, we believe yoga isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every human is unique, and so is every yoga practice.

While practicing at home offers convenience, something powerful happens when we come together in community. The studio provides a peaceful, distraction-free space where you can truly focus. A structured schedule builds accountability, while the energy of practicing with others brings motivation you just can’t get from a screen. Our teachers offer expert guidance and personalized attention—helping you adapt poses to your body, instead of forcing your body into a pose.

Aya is about connection. Yoga here isn’t just postures and breathwork—it’s shared experience. It’s encouragement from the teacher beside you, laughter after class, and the subtle comfort of practicing in the presence of others. Research shows that group movement decreases loneliness and strengthens wellbeing—and our community proves it daily.

We know studios can feel intimidating, so we’ve intentionally created a welcoming environment: no mirrors, no competition, no pressure. Just a calm, friendly space where you can breathe, move, and grow.

Cost should never be a barrier. That’s why we offer donation-based Sunday commUNITY classes, as well as limited scholarship rates for those in need. Private lessons are also available for anyone seeking extra support.

Whether you’re brand new to yoga or deepening your practice, Aya Yoga Oasis invites you to step away from the noise of everyday life and into a community that practices together, grows together, and looks out for one another.

At Aya, you belong.
