Severe power outages caused by this week’s “bomb cyclone” storm led to over 130 canceled blood donation appointments on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, significantly impacting local blood supplies.
Bloodworks Northwest needs 1,000 donors a day to support hospitals in Western Washington and Oregon, and with Thanksgiving on the horizon, donations are more critical than ever.

Holiday Hours & Perks for Donors: To make donating easier, select Bloodworks Donor Centers will be open Thanksgiving Day (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) in Olympia, Puyallup, Renton, Vancouver, Everett, Central Seattle, and Silverdale.
Plus, as part of the Music’s In Our Blood campaign, all donors between Nov. 24-30, 2024 will earn double entries to win a trip for two to New York City, including tickets to a Broadway musical.
