The Burien City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, March 3, 2025  to conduct interviews and make appointments for key advisory bodies, including the Business and Economic Development Partnership (BEDP), Burien Airport Committee (BAC), Human Services Commission (HSC), Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Advisory Board (PRCA), and the Planning Commission (PC).

Advisory Board Interviews and Appointments
The council will interview candidates and vote on appointments to fill multiple vacancies on city commissions and advisory bodies.

Public Comment
Residents wishing to speak must sign up by 4:30 p.m. on March 3 via the city’s public comment form. Written comments may also be submitted but will not be read aloud during the meeting. Notice to all participants: Pursuant to RCW 42.17A.555, campaigning for any ballot measure or candidate in City Hall and/or during any portion of the Council Meeting – including the public comment period – is prohibited.

Candidates for Appointment
The council will consider more than a dozen candidates for positions across several advisory bodies:

  • Business and Economic Development Partnership (BEDP): Kim Davis, Bruce Bright, Jonathan Richards, Paula Gooding, Torrence Dixon, William Codd
  • Burien Airport Committee (BAC): Alejandra Cordoba Perez, Jeff Harbaugh, Karen Veloria, Louis Troisi, Brian Davis
  • Human Services Commission (HSC): Katherine Weikel, Kevin Osborn, Kristin Ortega
  • Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Advisory Board (PRCA): Amy Robinson, Andrew McMasters, current Arts Commissioner, Rafael Gallardo, current Arts Commissioner (alternate)
  • Planning Commission (PC):Hayden Campbell, Mia Vargas, Bob Grawet* (*On Feb. 27, Grawet requested to withdraw his application because his primary residence is in Olympia).

  1. I sincerely hope the candidates for the BEDP are all business owners in Burien so they all know what does, and doesn’t work to keep a robust downtown economy.
