The Burien Creative District will host its first-ever “ArtLab Burien” on Saturday, Aug. 29, transforming part of downtown into a free arts and culture festival.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on SW 153rd Street between Ambaum Blvd. SW and 6th Ave SW (map below).
The event is FREE and open to the public.
ArtLab Burien is described as an immersive celebration of art, culture and community, with artists and residents invited to gather, make, teach, collaborate and connect, according to the Burien Creative District Welcome to ArtLab Burien – an immersive celebration of art.pdf.
The downtown Burien event will feature artists, poets, actors, filmmakers, crafters, musicians, cultural workers and arts and culture organizations. Organizers said attendees will be invited into the creative process and encouraged to participate rather than simply watch.
The Main Stage and the Stage at the Heart Gallery will feature local bands, performing ensembles, dancers and poets, according to the event materials.
Art encounters also will be placed throughout the block, giving attendees opportunities to interact and create.
