On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, the Burien Police Department released the following statement on recent shootings in Burien:
Monday and Tuesday night, there were two separate shootings in Burien. There have also been several shootings in other south King County communities. These are tragic events that affect our entire community, including our police officers. Partners across law enforcement and the prosecutor’s office are working diligently to solve these crimes and hold the people who committed them accountable.
The Burien Police Department is ramping up high visibility emphasis patrols in our neighborhoods over the next several weeks. We are actively communicating with other cities that have experienced similar violent events in order to share intelligence across jurisdictional boundaries.
We all need to work together to prevent to violent events in our community. We ask you to be our eyes and ears, calling 911 anytime you see concerning behavior.
