Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office say that they continue to see thefts from locked mailboxes – most recently at a community in the 200 block of S. 177th Place in Burien (map below).

The suspect(s) forced open multiple mailboxes during the overnight hours.

An investigation is ongoing.

“We encourage you to help reduce your risk of becoming a victim by retrieving your mail daily and avoid leaving checks or valuables in the ‘Outgoing Mail'” police said.

Police say that most of these crimes happen in the dark, during overnight hours, when it’s tough to catch a thief in the act.

“But, if you do see suspicious people or activity around mailbox areas, don’t hesitate to call 911.”
