With overnight low temperatures dropping to unsafe levels this week, the Burien Severe Weather Shelter is extending its operations for several more nights to provide warmth and safety to those in need.
The shelter, located at Highline United Methodist Church and run with the help of community volunteers and donations, is calling on residents to lend their support to ensure its continued service.
“Well, Mr. Freeze has settled in to our region – keeping overnight temperatures unsafe, so we are staying open another few nights,” organizers said. “We are so grateful for our community and the support you provide to help us keep people warm overnight.”
“Our biggest need right now is Volunteers, and we will be adding more supplies as needed, so please remember to check back often.”
Please click this SignUp link to let them know if you can share a part of your evening or morning helping to welcome their guests in or/and help them get fed in the morning and get supplies to head back out during the daytime.
Or if you can help them out with other needed supplies and groceries – they also accept monetary donations if you prefer.
“Whatever way you can help is a loving gift to our community. We appreciate this caring community so much.”
