A CALL FOR ART has been announced for the new 2020 Arts-A-Glowing program at Burien’s Dottie Harper Park, produced in collaboration by the City of Burien and LUSIO.

In an effort to support local artists, to bring joy to the public with art – and in lieu of the canceled in-person, physical 2020 Arts-a-Glow festival – the City of Burien and collaborator LUSIO are seeking an artist or artist group to exhibit public art at Dottie Harper Park in Burien for at least 30 days starting at the beginning of September 2020.

Exhibit(s) are to be hung into the trees (above 10 feet) or into the woven nature of the park flora, and must be either weatherproof and/or created to withstand or comply with nature for at least 30 days.

Compostable, biodegradable, or “okay to decay” art is encouraged!

*Does not have to be light art* so this call is open to artists of all mediums!

    • Dottie Harper Park has been the home to the Arts-a-Glow festival every September since 2008 and given the current COVID restrictions in place the festival had to be canceled.
    • Arts-a-Glowing is an expanded program featuring art placed throughout the city of Burien for walk by, drive by, or bike by viewing.
    • The Arts-a-Glowing program is an effort to continue the tradition of bringing public art for all to enjoy every September.
    • Call for Art in Dottie Harper Park is accepting applications now through Aug. 20, 2020.
