The City of Burien is currently developing its first climate action plan – focusing on strategies and actions to reduce the City’s greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change – and they’re seeking residents to participate.

“By taking action to reduce the City’s emissions and prepare for climate risks, the City will position itself to be ahead of the curve and protect the health and well-being of our residents and economy,” the city said in a statement.

The City is looking for interested residents to participate in the development of the plan. The feedback received from this community engagement will inform the vision, goals, strategies, actions, and implementation of Burien’s first climate action plan. All public input will be heard and considered along with input from City staff, City leaders, and partners throughout the planning process.

“Your input will influence the solutions selected to do our part in global climate action and also influence broader City decisions around housing, land use, transportation, parks and green space, and more.”

If you are interested in being a part of this planning process, please email environment@burienwa.gov for more information.
