The City of Burien is inviting community members to sign up as Volunteers and Station Educators for StormFest, an annual outdoor learning festival focused on stormwater education for sixth-grade students in Highline Public Schools.

The interactive event will take place June 10–12, 2025 at Des Moines Beach Park, and features hands-on lessons about local watersheds, pollution prevention, and environmental stewardship.

Organizers are seeking both general Volunteers and Station Educators, who will receive training to help co-teach environmental lessons.

Educators are eligible to receive a stipend of up to $515 for their time.

“StormFest 2024 was a wonderful experience for me,” said Liz Wonder, sustainability manager for the City of Burien. “It was my first festival with the City of Burien, and a great introduction to the incredible community and schools in this area. The festival is an inspiring mix of people from different walks of life coming together to motivate and educate the next generation. If you are at all interested in participating or just learning more, I encourage you to reach out!”

Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in outdoor education, collaborate with environmentally conscious peers, and help create a welcoming, inclusive experience for students.

Deadline is May 12

Applications are open until May 12, and can be submitted online at burienwa.gov/StormFest.

A mandatory training session for station educators will be held on June 4.
