Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and David will speak at 6 p.m. David has been composing original compositions since the young age of 3. He received a degree in commercial Music Production from the University of Washington and went on to attend film-scoring school through the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program. David will be talking about the art of writing music for motion pictures, discussing what music can add to bring out the emotion and content of film acting and storyline. There will also be a question and answer period at the conclusion of his lecture. If you have ever wondered what goes into creating an award winning soundtrack for movies, television or even a great YouTube video, you won’t want to miss David Templeton’s talk on film scoring on Feb. 7. David has performed solo at Carnegie Hall in New York twice, and at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall numerous times. He plays 11 different instruments, which he often incorporates into his soundtrack work. David is known locally for scoring the national award-winning film, “The Maury Island Incident.†He has numerous recordings out and was nominated for Recording of the Year along side the rock group “Heart” by the Northwest Area Music Association. The New Yorker Magazine calls him… “One of the most accomplished and original new talents to hit the keyboards… thoroughly enjoyable.” Here’s a video of David playing the main theme to “The Maury Island Incident” at a 2013 event: [embed]https://youtu.be/BWZilg1P8lQ[/embed] The Tin Room Bar & Theater is located at 923 SW 152nd Street in Olde Burien: ]]>
