A diesel generator fuel spill at St. Anne Hospital in Burien prompted an emergency response and road closure Friday morning, Dec. 19, according to King County Fire District No. 2.

Fire officials told The B-Town Blog that the hazmat incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. at St. Anne Hospital on Sylvester Road SW, across the street from Sylvester Middle School.

Early dispatch calls incorrectly listed the school as the incident location, but responders later confirmed the spill was tied to a diesel generator at the hospital.

Crews were actively working to contain the spill, and the roadway in the immediate area was cordoned off as cleanup efforts began.

Access to the area was expected to remain limited until the spill was under control, fire officials said.

As of late morning, no additional information had been released about injuries or the size of the spill.
