Discover Burien’s 2026 Empty Bowls fundraiser resulted in two $12,000 checks being presented to both the Highline Area Food Bank and the White Center Food Bank, while also delivering trophies to this year’s Best Soup winners.

The annual fundraiser was held at the Burien Community Center on Friday, Jan. 30, and raised $24,000 for the local food banks.

Winners of “Best Soup” awards included:

  1. 1st Place Restaurant Soup: Smarty Pants Garage, with a cheesy chicken enchilada soup.
  2. 1st Place Facility Soup: Village Concepts of Burien, also known as El Dorado West, with a curry miso mushroom soup.
  3. 1st Place Vegan Soup: The Tin Room Bar, for vegan soup with a butternut squash bisque.

“Thank you to everyone who participated, we raised $24,000 for the food banks,” organizers said.
