Former Seattle Seahawk Garry Gilliam will deliver the keynote address at Multi-Service Center’s “MSC Helps” Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Federal Way, where the organization will also honor community leader Jesse Johnson.
The luncheon runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center (map below).
Registration is required. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $150.
Gilliam, founder of the Empower the Bridge Foundation, will bring a perspective shaped by overcoming adversity. MSC said his work focuses on building communities that offer opportunities to people facing systemic oppression and racism.
Johnson will receive the organization’s Help, Hope, Change Award for his commitment to uplifting the community. MSC cited his history of service in South King County, including serving on the Federal Way City Council and in the Washington Legislature.
MSC Board President Teleda Holmes will also share how the organization helped her family and how that experience shaped her commitment to its mission. The program will also include a story from a client helped by MSC.
The luncheon will bring supporters together around MSC’s work to expand access to advocacy, opportunity and well-being, the organization said.
