The Burien Arts Association and GreenStage are pleased to present two plays by William Shakespeare in our area in July and August.

This month, on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Lake Burien School Memorial Park in Burien, they will perform King Henry VI, Part 1, by William Shakespeare.

GreenStage has been performing free Shakespeare in the park in the Seattle metro area for 35 years. Their shows are playing in over 20 parks this year.  Burien Arts has been bringing GreenStage productions to our area for 15 years. 

Thanks to the cities of Burien and Normandy Park, 4 Culture, and Arts WA for their support, which makes it possible to offer these plays free of charge.

  • WHAT: King Henry VI, Part 1, by William Shakespeare
  • PLOT: England is weakened by the death of Henry V as Joan of Arc, savior of the French, leads a rebellion against the English occupiers. Back in England, a struggle for control of the throne ignites a bloody civil war between the two factions laying claim to the kingship. 
  • WHEN: Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023 at Marvista Park in Normandy Park, they will perform Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare.

  • WHAT: Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare.
  • PLOT: Two teens from warring families meet and fall madly in love. Due to the mutual hatred of their families, they know that they will not be allowed to be together. Aided by a sympathetic friar, they secretly marry. Complications arise and the young couple end in a double suicide. The two grieving families make peace at last.
  • WHEN: Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 5 p.m.
  • WHERE: Marvista Park, 19990 4th Ave SW, Normandy Park, WA (a 15-minute drive south of Burien). Restrooms and children’s play area available. Bring your folding camp chair and picnic
