Transform Burien is expanding its services this fall with two free health clinics coming up, aimed at helping neighbors during a time of financial uncertainty:
- Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 12 to 2 p.m., free flu shots, Hepatitis A and B vaccines, and Tdap immunizations will be offered at Transform’s headquarters, 15623 Des Moines Memorial Drive in Burien. No insurance is required, and everyone is welcome regardless of immigration status, according to the event flier.
- Wednesday, Nov. 12 and Thursday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: A second clinic, hosted by VSP Vision’s Eyes of Hope program, will provide free vision exams and glasses on at the same location, the former Sunnydale Elementary School building. To qualify, participants must meet income guidelines, lack vision coverage, and not have received care through VSP in the past year. Appointments can be scheduled through the Highline Area Food Bank or Transform Burien.
Transform Burien said the clinics come as demand for basic needs continues to rise, especially with the ongoing federal government shutdown and the suspension of November SNAP benefits.
The local non-profit continues to provide hot meals, food bank services, and clothing distribution three days a week.
Donations are being accepted to help meet increased demand.
More information, including a full calendar of services and ways to donate, is available at transformoutreach.org.
