UPDATE 2 p.m.: Glacier Middle School, located at 2450 S. 142nd Street in SeaTac (map below), was put into lockdown on Thursday, Mar. 30, 2023 after a report of a possible weapon on the campus.

Students were initially put into lockdown, and as of 3 p.m. were in modified lockdown.

Police and district security responded to the building, and searched to locate the weapon.

The King County Sheriff’s Office says that it all started just after 12 p.m. when they received a 911 call regarding a Suspicious Circumstance at the school.

“A parent reportedly received a call from their child at the school telling them there was a subject inside the school with a gun,” police said.

KCSO contacted the school and were initially informed that the school’s security had responded to the situation and contacted individuals and did not find anyone with a gun.

Deputies responded to the school and searched the school and immediate surrounding area out of an abundance of caution.

Deputies and K-9 units were unable to find any gun, or suspects.

KCSO worked with the school administration to conduct a systematic search and release of students. KCSO found no evidence of a danger to students or community.

UPDATE 3 p.m.: Highline Public Schools announced that police completed their search of Glacier Middle School and the building is secure, but in “modified lockdown.”

“Glacier Middle School remains in modified lockdown while police continue their investigation.

“Students will be released one by one to the gym for reunification with families.

“Students who take the bus home will be held until the parking lot can be cleared of traffic. Students will be bused home as close to on time as possible, but buses may run late.

To meet your student, please report to the west entrance to the gym.”

“PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE SCHOOL,” Highline Public Schools initially said on its website. “This could interfere with the police response and compromise the safety of students. We will provide an update as soon as possible.”

No further information released but we are hoping to get an update soon.
