Burien’s Highline Heritage Museum will host a live music event celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary on Saturday, May 16, according to event information provided by the museum.
The program, titled “A Musical Journey Celebrating 250 Years as a Country,” is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. and will feature Seattle area musician Don Jenkins.
The concert will include songs representing key historical events and eras in U.S. history, ranging from the early years of the country through popular music of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
Jenkins, who performs throughout the Seattle area, is known for a repertoire that includes folk, pop, Celtic, religious and country music. Organizers said he performs “for the pure joy of making music for and with friends and friends to be.”
In addition to the Burien performance, Jenkins has performed at the Northwest Folklife Festival for many years and is scheduled to appear again this year on Saturday, May 23 at 4 p.m. in the Cornish Courtyard at Seattle Center.
