A lifelong Pirate and 1977 graduate, Jeff Ashley has been unanimously chosen to lead the Highline High School Alumni Foundation as its new President.
He succeeds Gary Korsgaard, who served as President for the past 10 years.
The governing board of the foundation selected Ashley with a unanimous vote.
“It’s a great honor to help lead such a wonderful organization,” said Ashley. “I’ve always been a Pirate and always will be.”
Ashley was the 2022 Alumni of the Year and is chairman of the organization’s Athletic Hall of Fame. He is also active in several other service groups.
Ashley, a 1977 HHS graduate, was born at Burien General Hospital and attended Lake Burien, Gregory Heights and Sylvester schools before Highline High School. While at Highline, he played football, basketball and baseball. He was captain of the baseball team and selected to the All-North Puget Sound League team at catcher. He went on to Eastern Washington University where he played two years of baseball. He recently retired from the real estate and mortgage loan business, which he worked in since 1979.
Ashley listed his goals for the Foundation as growing membership and attracting younger alums.
Tricia Anderson, also a 1977 graduate and 2023 Alumni of The Year, will serve as the organization’s Vice President.
The Highline High School Alumni Foundation was founded in 1995 and since then has awarded 515 scholarships totaling $1,305,500. In 2025, the organization awarded 23 scholarships totalling $87,000.
