The Waskowitz Outdoor Education Center will host its first-ever fundraising breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, to support outdoor learning programs for Highline Public Schools students.

The event, called Wake Up with Waskowitz, will be held from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Waskowitz Outdoor Education Center in North Bend (map below).

It will feature breakfast, community connections, and stories highlighting the impact of outdoor education programs on students.

Organizers said proceeds will benefit Waskowitz Outdoor Programs, which provide hands-on outdoor learning experiences to thousands of Highline students each year.

“This is your chance to be part of something special — supporting hands-on, outdoor experiences that make a lasting impact on students’ lives,” the center announced in its invitation.

About the Event

Wake Up with Waskowitz is their first-ever breakfast fundraiser, helping more students experience the power of outdoor education.

“For the past three years, Washington’s Outdoor Learning Grants program significantly subsidized the cost of overnight outdoor school, ensuring that every Highline student had the opportunity to participate in this life-changing experience. Unfortunately, this statewide funding has come to an end, affecting school districts across Washington — including Highline. In response, Waskowitz is actively pursuing new revenue streams to sustain and strengthen our outdoor education programs. This includes expanding facility rentals, increasing fundraising efforts, and applying for grants. We’re especially excited to host our first-ever Fundraising Breakfast — an important step in helping offset program costs and preserve access to outdoor learning for all students. Together, we can ensure Waskowitz continues to be a place where nature, community, and education come together.”

The breakfast is hosted by the Highline Schools Foundation, which fundraises for programs across the district.
