The King County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026 identified the man who died after being trapped underneath a vehicle in Burien on Wednesday night, Dec. 31.

The victim was identified as Elijah Remington Stewart, 27, of Burien, according to the medical examiner’s office.

As we previously reported, the tragic incident occurred late on New Year’s Eve in Burien outside in the 400 block of SW 155th Street.

The cause of death was “compressional asphyxia” and considered an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

The investigation is being handled by the King County Sheriff’s Office.
