Evergreen High School in White Center was placed into lockdown Wednesday morning, Dec. 17, and police recovered two weapons and detained three students before transitioning to a “Hold” status later in the day, according to Highline Public Schools and the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Police responded to the campus at around 9 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a person with weapons on campus.
Police said officers conducted a room by room search of the school and recovered two weapons.
Three students were detained in connection with the incident, with two taken to a juvenile facility, and one released back to the school.
“The Hold action is used when the hallways in the school need to remain clear,” the district said. “Classroom learning still takes place as normal during a Hold, but students may not be able to change classes until after the Hold has been lifted.”
All students and staff are safe and following emergency procedures, the district added.
