[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a verified resident. It does not necessarily reflect the opinions of The B-Town Blog, nor its staff:]

Dear Brian Wilson,

The Para Los Niños Board of Directors is writing this letter in response to the displacement of tenants from the annex. We have appreciated the city’s partnership with PLN as we have grown and continue to serve Community in Burien. We thank you for your continued partnership as the city and tenants continue to find solutions as they relate to relocation of our offices.

We present the City with the following collaborative requests if the annex is to ever be remodeled and/or torn down for redevelopment:

    • That Para Los Niños, and all other tenants in the annex as of December 2019, be notified immediately of any intent or conversations for remodeling and/or redevelopment.
    • That Para Los Niños, and all other tenants in the annex as of December 2019, be included in consultations, processes, and Community meetings regarding any remodel and/or redevelopment.
    • That Para Los Niños, and all other tenants in the annex as of December 2019, be given priority to return as tenants to a remodeled and/or redeveloped building.

The future of the Annex Building is unknown. PLN Board Members extended a letter to the Burien City Council indicating their strong desire to be participants in opportunities for community involvement in regards to the future of the Annex Building. They also asked the City to provide priority to the seven displaced organizations in any future remodels or redevelopments.

Thank you for your consideration and attention to this important conversation. We look forward to working with you all on this matter.

In Partnership,
