Local nonprofit ANEW is enrolling participants for a free Construction 101 training program scheduled for June 8–12 at its Tukwila training facility, offering Burien residents an introduction to careers in the skilled trades.

The program is designed for individuals interested in exploring construction careers and gaining foundational, job ready skills, according to ANEW.

Participants in the five-day course will earn certifications in flagging and forklift operation, learn essential construction tool terminology, and receive an introduction to career pathways in the trades and union apprenticeships.

ANEW, a nonprofit focused on workforce development, provides pre apprenticeship training, industry certifications and support services aimed at connecting individuals to long term careers in construction and manufacturing trades.

The organization said its programs are intended to build a more diverse and skilled workforce while helping participants access opportunities in high demand industries.
