UPDATE: Following an initial investigation into Tuesday’s (Mar. 4, 2025) homicide at the USPS distribution center in Tukwila, officers and detectives quickly identified the suspect involved in the case, who ended up later dying by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Tukwila Police Department, officers initially responded to reports of a shooting at the distribution center in the 10700 block of 27th Avenue South (map below) just before 4 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound and immediately began lifesaving measures. Fire and medical personnel arrived to take over, but sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the shooting suspect – who initially fled – was located in a vehicle Tuesday evening in Seattle by detectives and SWAT team members. As officers and detectives moved into to detain the suspect, the suspect sustained a life-threatening, self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Both the suspect and victim have been identified as USPS employees that knew each other prior to the shooting. The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident between the suspect and victim.

The suspect fled the area immediately after the shooting, but was later located.

The Tukwila Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is actively investigating the incident. Officials urge anyone with information to contact tips@tukwilawa.gov, send a private message on social media, or call (206)-241-2121.

  1. Seems the USPS management fails to learn from the past. Royal Oak post office as well as others. This will continue until the toxic work environment improves.
