The Rotary Club of Burien & White Center – in partnership with The B-Town Blog – will be holding a Candidate Forum for Burien City Council candidates on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at Merrill Gardens (an Advertiser).
Six candidates are vying for three open positions in the Nov. 5 General Election.
This free, open event will run from 6:30 – 8 p.m.:
- 6:30 p.m.: Meet & Greet the candidates
- 7 p.m.: Forum begins
- 8 p.m.: Forum ends
It will be moderated by David Ruby, a Civics Teacher at Highline High School who moderated our previous forums in 2017.
The structure of this forum will likely be:
- Opening statements (2-minutes each)
- Relevant questions asked of all six candidates from the Moderator
- Timed responses to questions (most likely 2/3-minutes)
- Closing statements (2-minutes each)
As in all of the Rotary Club’s efforts, organizers will be guided by the Rotary Four Way Test:
“Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
It is our intention to also videotape this event for future posting on The B-Town Blog.
Candidates invited include:
