Northwest Symphony Orchestra and Washington Trails Association will perform “Crescendo: A Symphonic Celebration of Washington Landscapes” at Benaroya Hall on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

Crescendo: A Symphonic Celebration of Washington Landscapes will be a spectacular musical and visual concert presented by Northwest Symphony Orchestra (NWSO) in partnership with Washington Trails Association (WTA).

The performance will feature live music from the NWSO accompanied by stunning nature photographs of Washington state, courtesy of WTA. The NWSO will perform popular music by John Williams, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven, Antonin Dvorak, and Richard Wagner, as well as a world premiere by NWSO Music Director, Anthony Spain.

The concert also includes an appearance by the Musical Mountaineers, as featured on KOMO 4 and KING 5 television stations.

All photos shown were submitted by hikers to WTA’s annual Northwest Exposure Photo Contest, a celebration of outdoor photography and the community of hikers who explore Washington’s trails. The contest features six categories highlighting hikers and the landscapes, people, plants and animals they encounter on trail. Winners in each category are featured online and in WTA’s annual calendar, available to WTA members.

Proceeds will support Northwest Symphony Orchestra and Washington Trails Association, both nonprofit organizations.

WTA also invites concert goers to a pre-concert reception where they can meet WTA staff and board members while enjoying appetizers and beverages. Reception tickets can be purchased along with concert tickets and will philanthropically support WTA’s annual work for trails.

About Northwest Symphony Orchestra

The mission of the NWSO is to be the premier orchestra in performing and promoting the music of contemporary northwest composers while also performing, and educating, the public in the full spectrum of orchestra music. The Northwest Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1987. Since that time, the orchestra has received local, regional, and national acclaim, having been featured several times on National Public Radio and once on NBC’s Today Show. Music Director Anthony Spain and the NWSO have recorded five CDs (including two on the KOCH and Albany labels of New York). These CD’s have been highly praised by sources including the American Record Guide “…sound is beautiful, playing excellent and Fanfare .. first class orchestra…This is a first class production all around.” Melinda Bargreen of the Seattle Times has described Dr. Spain and the Northwest Symphony Orchestra as giving “strong, committed, impassioned performances.” More info here: www.northwestsymphonyorchestra.org.
