Last Saturday, June 30, the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run cruised through Burien, holding a rally, meeting local officials, with athletes proudly running with a torch through the streets while bing escorted by local police. Special Olympics athletes stopped at Town Square Park – as well as other locations – as they were making their way around Washington state in this Toyota-sponsored event. The 2018 Special Olympics USA Games are being held in Seattle through July 6, 2018. More than 4,000 athletes and coaches representing 50 state Programs and the District of Columbia, along with the support of tens of thousands of volunteers and spectators, will compete in 14 Olympic-type team and individual sports.
