Seattle Police arrested two 19-year-old men after a road rage confrontation escalated into a shooting and vehicle crash on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025 on southbound SR 509 near South Cloverdale Street.
According to police, a 54-year-old man reported he was punched in the face and threatened with a handgun after leaving a parking lot in the 3400 block of Harbor Ave SW on Sunday.
The man said he tried to drive away as a gunshot rang out, later finding bullet holes in his vehicle.
The victim followed the suspects and called 911. Moments later, the suspects’ vehicle crashed on SR 509. Officers arrested the driver for investigation of assault and DUI, and the passenger for investigation of assault.
Seattle police said they recovered bullet casings at the original scene, along with a bag of bullets near the crash site, but no firearm was found.
Seattle Fire Department, Washington State Patrol, Tukwila Police Department, and Renton Police Department assisted at the scene.
Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit and the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are continuing the investigation.
