A mobile food cart selling raspados (shave ice) at the corner of SW 116th Street and 10th Ave SW was shut down by Public Health – Seattle & King County officials on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, after being found in violation of multiple food safety regulations.
According to officials, the vendor was operating without a valid permit near Evergreen High School, and failed to use an approved commissary kitchen for food preparation and equipment cleaning.
Additionally, the cart’s operating plans had not been reviewed or approved, a requirement to ensure proper food handling and storage practices.
The closure was issued at Noon, and the cart’s status is listed as closed until further notice.
The cart will remain closed until all violations are corrected and it receives approval from health officials to resume operations.
According to their website:
“Public Health lists the reason(s) the establishment was closed. Reasons for closing an establishment may be due to food code violations and failure to follow the permitting process. Depending on the type of closure, additional information may include the date the facility was shut down, whether the establishment has reopened, the date it reopened, and additional notes.
“Information for restaurants closed by Public Health will remain online for a minimum of 7 days after the establishment is reopened.”
Excellent news, no one needs food poisoning from someone who doesn’t follow the rules and puts innocent people in danger of illness, disease or parasites while looking for a snack.
