Garden enthusiasts spent Saturday, May 30 exploring nine local gardens as the annual Burien Garden Tour, raising funds for community beautification projects while showcasing a variety of landscapes throughout the city.

Organized by community volunteers and supported by Discover Burien, the self-guided tour invited participants to visit nine Burien gardens between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The event served as a fundraiser, with proceeds from ticket sales designated for botanical beautification projects in downtown Burien.

The tour began at the New Start Community Garden, also known as The Shark Garden, where participants picked up maps and badges before heading out to visit the featured gardens. The Shark Garden also hosted plant sales, live music and community organizations during the event.

According to organizers, the tour was designed to give visitors an opportunity to explore local gardens, gather landscaping inspiration, connect with neighbors and celebrate Pride weekend while supporting community improvements.

Participants collected entry tickets at each garden stop and finished the tour at Huckleberry Gardens Nursery. There, visitors were welcomed with a glass of bubbles, voted for their favorite garden and entered raffles for prizes and gardening related giveaways.

Discover Burien said proceeds from the event will support future botanical beautification efforts in the downtown area.

The annual tour was organized by volunteers from the Burien community and featured a mix of private and community gardens across the city.
