Burien City Council honors ‘Citizens of the Year’ at Monday night’s meeting

The Burien City Council honored its 2017 ‘Citizens of the Year’ at a special reception just before Monday night’s meeting (April 3):

  • Larry Cripe joined with other Burien residents to form the Quiet Skies Coalition, whose mission is restore the quiet skies over the greater Burien area. He brought residents together to advocate for the Burien community in negotiations with the Federal Aviation Administration and City of Burien.
  • Wendy Meyers-Wenger has owned and operated the Highline Tutoring Center in Burien continuously for 34 years, inspiring thousands of students to reach their full potential.

“Both Larry Cripe and Wendy Meyers-Wenger have significant contributions to the our community,” the City said in a statement. “We thank you for your service!”

    For Wendy the recognition comes 33 years late if you compare it to Larry’s recognition. If the airplane noise issue gets resolved the recognition is well deserved and not premature.
