As an organization working to advocate for a critically endangered species, Orca Conservancy is dismayed at how urban development continues to destroy a wild salmon bearing stream/creek/tributary.
Historically, this tributary not only provided wild Chinook, chum and coho salmon to the 73 remaining members of the now critically endangered Southern Resident killer whale population and wildlife, but also the local Treaty Tribes and recreational fishers.
The question remains. What is Westmark Development Corporation intending to do to ensure this tributary is given the restoration needed to once again produce wild salmon?
Additionally, while the risk of mudslides are imminent at this location, and the worry of eight individual trees being felled within the 9.62 acres, concerning.
At the end of the day, this is about a community coming together and working collectively to ensure the ecosystem is protected for future generations.
The message is clear – we are tired of being silenced over the lack of political will due to corporate greed.
