At halftime during this Friday night’s (Oct. 25, 2024) big Homecoming Game, Highline High School will celebrate more than just its history and sports – it will celebrate band leader Scott Babcock, who will conduct his final performance after 30 years.

The band, under his direction, will perform three songs during halftime, followed by the introduction of the Homecoming Court.

This performance will mark the final appearance in this role for Babcock, who is retiring after 30 years at Highline and a total of 33 years as a band instructor.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Babcock has led the school’s concert, jazz, and symphonic bands, impacting over 1,000 students with his passion and dedication to music education.

Babcock also taught and coached tennis at the school, which will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary.

His leadership will be celebrated – and missed – as the school bids farewell to one of its most beloved figures.
