Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, gratitude, and connection, and we wanted to take a moment to share our heartfelt thanks with all of you — our readers, contributors, advertisers, and supporters who make this work possible.
When we first launched The B-Town Blog as a hobby nearly 17 years ago, our vision was to create a platform that informs, connects, and celebrates the Burien community. What we didn’t fully anticipate was how much our little “hyperlocal” news and events website would grow into a full-time, popular family business — one that reflects the vibrant, diverse, and passionate people who call Burien home. Today, it’s a privilege to work together as husband and wife, building and maintaining this business every single day.
Each story we publish, whether it’s breaking news, a community feature, a local fundraiser or an event announcement, is a piece of the larger puzzle that is Burien. Every click, comment, and share reminds us of the importance of real, local journalism and its role in strengthening the community.
- To our loyal readers: Thank you for trusting us to bring you the locally driven, professional journalism that matters most. We are committed to following the time-honored code of journalistic ethics outlined by the Society of Professional Journalists and LION Publishers. Your engagement — whether it’s through a kind note, constructive feedback, or simply reading and sharing our stories — drives everything we do.
- To our advertisers: Thank you for believing in us and supporting our expanding mission. Your partnership allows us to remain Burien’s top sustainable, independent news source.
- To our contributors and team: Your dedication to covering Burien’s unique stories with professionalism, accuracy, and compassion inspires us every day. You are the heart of The B-Town Blog.
This Thanksgiving, we’re especially grateful for the sense of community that Burien embodies. Whether it’s rallying to support a neighbor in need, celebrating our local businesses, or coming together for events that showcase our shared values, Burien truly is a place like no other.
We also take this opportunity to honor the cherished family members and friends who are no longer with us. Though their physical presence is deeply missed, their spirits fill our hearts and homes, woven into the traditions and stories we share.
As we gather with loved ones today, let’s all take a moment to appreciate the small yet powerful ways we connect and support one another. It’s those connections that make our work at The B-Town Blog so meaningful.
From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our journey. We wish you a happy, healthy, and peaceful Thanksgiving.
Warm regards,
Scott & Theresa Schaefer

Thank you, Scott and Theresa for providing your medium for Burien Citizens to share their thoughts with the rest of the community. I would like to say that my experience at the Highline Foodbank has been very heart filling. My fellow volunteers are inspirational, and the clients are very thankful and appreciative. Excellent soul food and a chance to recover from the News Stories. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas.
