CARES of Burien and Des Moines is seeking Volunteers to join their annual “Shelter Dog Shuffle” this Thanksgiving morning.

The event, aimed at giving shelter dogs much-needed exercise and companionship, will take place Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024, from 9 to 11 a.m. at CARES, located at 909 SW 151st Street in Burien (map below).

Organizers encourage participants to start their holiday by walking dogs in a festive and healthy way.

“Some people do a Turkey Trot, but we prefer a Shelter Dog Shuffle,” CARES said in a statement. “Start your Thanksgiving day off right with some exercise and some dogs. More feet equal fewer miles for the walkers.”

Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome, and the organization expressed gratitude for those who can spare their time.

Participants can sign up in advance below, and are encouraged to arrive ready to enjoy the fresh air and playful companionship of shelter dogs.
