Here’s some Rumor Control from the Burien Police Department, released on Friday, Mar. 27, 2020:

“There is no request from the governor’s office for Burien PD or National Guard to establish martial law or checkpoints in the city.

“Law enforcement’s role in the quarantine is to engage our communities and provide education. No one is required to have a letter or pass to prove you have an essential reason to be outside during the quarantine.

“We understand people need to carry out essential services and activities and respect that our community members will make the right decisions.

“We will be reminding people of the governor’s direction when we see activities that are not consistent with social distancing practices but we are not writing tickets or taking people to jail.

“Stay home. Stay Healthy.”
