Page 2 Books, a beloved bookstore in Burien since 1989, announced this week that it is changing hands after more than a decade under the ownership of Jenny Cole.
Cole and her husband Bill Virgin purchased the store in 2013 and nurtured it into a vibrant community hub. They expanded the selection beyond new books to include used books, gifts, and a welcoming atmosphere for book lovers.
As we previously reported, in 2019, Cole and co. moved the store across the street to the current location in the same building that houses the Burien Town Square condos.
Following Virgin’s passing in late 2020 and a desire to spend more time with family, Cole announced that she has decided to step down from ownership. The new owners are longtime customers who are well-integrated into the Burien community.
“Being the owner of this incredible store has been such a big part of my life,” Cole said in a Facebook post. “Working in the store and being around so many people who love books has been wonderful. As many of you have noticed, I have not been in the store very much for the past few years. I want to spend more time with my family and we plan on making a move to Port Townsend soon.”
“There have been so many wonderful experiences,” Cole added. “By far, the greatest gift has been the many wonderful people I have met.”
Cole adds that she is also grateful for the dedicated staff who have made the store a success and looks forward to remaining a customer and participant in the store’s book club.
The name Page 2 Books and its commitment to serving the Burien community will continue under the new ownership, Cole said.
