Paws & Relax Doggie Daycare – Burien’s first dog daycare and boarding facility – is set to “paws” by closing its doors after years of providing a “home away from home” for the city’s canine residents, according to a social media post.

Located at 909 SW 151st Street next door to Burien CARES, the facility has been a trusted destination for dog owners seeking daycare and boarding services.

The closure comes as Burien CARES plans to expand and repurpose the space, leaving the daycare without a home.

“But it saddens me a lot,” said Dominique Sweeney, manager for seven years. “But it only puts a major spark under me to keep pushing. So if you ever brought your dogs to paws just know I love love them like they were mine.”

Paws & Relax’s closure marks the end of an era for downtown Burien’s vibrant pet community, but the manager hinted at future plans and encouraged customers to reach out via social media for updates.

“This isn’t a goodbye, it’s just a ‘see you later,'” Sweeney added.

Paws & Relax operated under the purview of Burien CARES, which is located next door.
