A free handgun lockbox giveaway is planned for Friday, June 5 in downtown Burien as part of National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
According to event organizers, free handgun lockboxes will be available while supplies last from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Burien Town Square, located at 400 SW 152nd Street in Burien.
The event is being presented in partnership with Public Health Seattle and King County, the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention, Alliance for Gun Responsibility, the City of Burien and additional community partners.
The promotional materials state that free handgun lockboxes will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
National Gun Violence Awareness Day is observed annually to promote awareness and community action around gun violence prevention and firearm safety.
