Burien Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services has been awarded a grant, and they’re seeking to certify three instructors for a ‘Walk with Ease’ program.

Here’s more info:

This Arthritis Foundation program is nationally-known, and helps folks incorporate physical activity into their lives in an easy way. The program is 1 hour, 3 times a week, for 6 weeks. Depending on the interest, these 6-weeks may be repeated 2-3 more times over the course of a year and beyond. There is online training time, as well. The format of each class is part classroom instruction/facilitation using a workbook and part walking either indoors or outside.

Due to the big time commitment, we were hoping the time can be spread out amongst several leads. So if three to six were interested, there could be one-two leads per class each week and each person/pair could take on the same day of the week, so that all the classes are covered and the time doesn’t fall on a single person, unless they want it to.

The first online training will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020.
