A fully loaded and untraceable “ghost gun” was recovered by Burien Police on Friday, May 16, 2025, during an operation targeting gang activity at Puget Sound Park (map below).

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, Crime Reduction Unit detectives were conducting an area check in the city when they spotted several known gang members at the park.

One male was observed in possession of a firearm, prompting detectives to call for assistance from patrol deputies.

The suspect was detained without incident, and officers recovered the weapon — a privately made firearm with no serial number, commonly referred to as a ghost gun.

Police said it was fully loaded and a test fire with a blank cartridge confirmed the weapon was functional.

“Another illegal gun safely off the streets,” police said in a statement. “Thank you CRU and Burien Patrol!”

The suspect’s identity and any pending charges have not yet been released.
