Burien’s 2014 “Music in the Park” series will take place Wednesday nights at North SeaTac Park (starting July 16), and Thursday nights at Lake Burien School Park (starting July 10).
So grab a blanket, pack a picnic and bring the entire family to enjoy live entertainment outdoors at the Music in the Park summer concert series. We have an exciting line up this year…everything from Gypsy Jazz to Bluegrass, Soul and Country.
For complete details about the bands performing at the Music in the Park concerts and the full concert schedule, visit the “Schedule Information” link below, or go to www.BurienWA.gov/concerts. You can also call the Burien Parks Department at 206-988-3700.
There are two concert venues this year with concerts on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The kickoff to our concert series will take place on Thursday July 10th at Lake Burien School Park when we welcome back the ever popular Pearl Django. Their jazz fusion sound reflects a heritage going back to the days of Django Rinehart. We think their music is just perfect for a park summer concert.
The wonderful Geoffrey Castle will perform at the end of July. His remarkable electric Six String Violin sounds like an entire band. On August 7th, it’s the Paper Boys. This acclaimed band from Canada brings a unique pop mix that blends Celtic and Irish jigs, country and bluegrass. They’ve performed all over the country. Now they are coming to Burien.
In addition to concerts at Lake Burien School Park, we will also have three concerts at North Seatac Park. Starting on July 16th it is the soulful country sound of The Joy Mills Band, led by Seattle songwriter, Joy Mills. We think you’ll also agree that it wouldn’t be a summer concert series without some Latin music. The band Grupo Son performs the acoustic music of the Cuban countryside, considered to be one of the primary roots of modern salsa.
If this isn’t enough entertainment for you, there are more concert options as well. We will also have performances by The Highline Symphonic Band and sweet urban soul music by Darrius Willrich. There is also latin jazz with Alma y Azúcar and Reggae Rock Groove from the group Longstride. We even have a performance of live theatre-in-the-park planned for the evening of Thursday, July 30th.
Summer concerts are held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, from July 10 through Aug. 14, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday concerts are at North SeaTac Park, while Thursday concerts are at Lake Burien School Park. North SeaTac Park is located at S. 128th Street & Des Moines Memorial Drive. Lake Burien School Park is located at SW 148th Street and 16th Ave SW.
See you at the park!
