A car crashed into the storefront of the Bueno Discount Food Market in Burien on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2026, causing significant damage but no reported injuries, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened just before 1:40 p.m., according to police.

Police said that a large portion of the car may have gone into the building.

King County Fire District No. 2 responded to assess for any structural damage.

A store employee told KOMO News the driver accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake.

“It was a loud boom; nobody really saw it; they just saw the impact. No one saw it coming; it scared everyone,” Moises Guillen, who witnessed the crash, told KOMO.

Guillen, whose family operates the restaurant inside the market, said he was relieved that no one inside the store was hurt.

Although a significant portion of the vehicle entered the building, a witness told KOMO News the driver was able to drive the car away from the scene after the crash.
