Under the baton of new Artistic Director Ryan Ellis, ChoralSounds Northwest (CSN) will look back at its first 30 years of music-making in Burien with Shining Night on Dec. 13–14. The Christmas show includes dozens of singer and audience favorites from past years, like Biebl’s Ave Maria, White Christmas, African Noel and the hysterical Grandma’s Killer Fruitcake among many other unforgettable numbers. The concert ends with CSN’s unique take on Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah. There will be two performances of Shining Night on Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. All concerts are family-friendly and feature bright costuming, creative choreography and festive sets. Prime reserved seating tickets are $25 and festival seating is $20. Youth age 17 and under are admitted FREE with a paid adult attendee. ChoralSounds Northwest, a Burien-based chorus of 60 men and women, is beginning its first season under the gifted baton of Artistic Director Ryan Ellis, as the chorus continues to work with Doctoral Candidates from the UW Choral Conducting program. Through this partnership, the dynamic artistic leaders for CSN have continued to focus its energy on polished choral performance. Audiences have been delighted by concerts showcasing CSN’s return to high-quality musicianship combined with all the family-friendly fun they have come to expect. ChoralSounds is a part of Northwest Associated Arts, which includes KidSounds Northwest, YouthSounds Northwest, TeenSounds Northwest and SilverSounds Northwest.

  1. These Choral Sounds concerts are always great! This will be our third or fourth year going. It’s wonderful to have such a great group in our community.
If you haven’t checked it out, please do! And kids are free!

  2. This article says we have 60, but the number is actually closer to 70 this year! You will notice the difference with our added voices… all very talented, and more voices= bigger+better sound! 🙂 Plus, our new conductor from the UW music program is great! He’s even conducted a choral performance for the Queen.
