Renton Police detectives this week arrested 37-year-old Curt Cox, a prolific car theft suspect with a lengthy criminal history, following a tip from Crime Stoppers.

Cox, who was wanted in connection with a truck theft in July, was apprehended in Burien after attempting to evade officers.

During the arrest, police say he dropped or tossed a loaded, stolen firearm and car keys belonging to a different stolen vehicle.

According to police, Cox has over a dozen prior felony convictions and 41 arrests.

In addition to the recent charges, he now faces Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Cox remains in custody on $115,000 bail.

Police credit community engagement with helping to locate Cox. They initially posted his photo, urging the public to assist in identifying him, which ultimately led to the crucial tip.

  1. This model citizen is a outstanding example of the catch and release policies that plague the justice system, at what point will all his crimes add up to substantial punishment because he’s not learning.

  2. Jeez, why such a low bail, for all the harm he’s done financially and emotionally to the victims, that’s a crime setting it so low for a career criminal with a horrible arrest record, if he only has to pay 10% of the bail, that’s just a little over $1000, judges and prosecutors that’s not doing your job to combat crime

    1. Well I would say go find out who the judge in this arrest is and get a pen and paper out write them a letter on your thoughts of bail set then send it to the judge . Then also look at his other 41 cases and write the judge’s involved and ask why such light charges and small amounts of time. Then head to Olympia to the capital and work at getting the car theft/ breaking into laws changed to harsher penalty’s . Set up a protest talk to government leaders see if they will help if not you know who not to vote for next election also keep note of judges name when they come up on time vote to vote the bad ones out .

    1. Yeah they must not be doing their job because it does not match what you expect them to do in their job . Because you know every thing about their job and how to preform it .
