A car crashed through the fence of a Burien home early Monday morning, April 7, 2025, marking the fourth time in 12 years that a vehicle has struck the property.

Homeowners Ian and Mandy Johnson say the incident happened almost exactly two years after a previous crash damaged the same fence.

This time, the driver involved was reportedly uninsured.

No injuries were reported in the crash, which happened around 3:50 a.m. Monday when a car driving northbound on 4th Ave SW crashed through the home’s fence.

It is unknown what caused the crash.

Both Ian and Mandy and their dogs were home at the time, but were not hurt.

“We’re all okay, just sleep-deprived,” Ian Johnson told The B-Town Blog.

The couple, who have lived in the house for more than a decade, say they’ve now had four vehicles strike their property – with two of those crashes occurring in the last two years.

Johnson said he will be petitioning the city to add traffic control measures at the nearby intersection, which he believes could help prevent future incidents.

“I see a direct correlation between the increased number of accidents at this intersection and the installation of the bus lanes on Ambaum Blvd.,” Johnson said. “Even the officers on scene mentioned the increase of traffic/accidents on 4th caused by the bus lanes.”

  1. Bus lanes have nothing to do with bad drivers, they’re about better traffic. Fewer cars on the road means safer streets for everyone.

    1. Attacking the bus lane is ridiculous. Ticket speeders and bus lane violations, lower the speed limit to 25, narrow the lane, increase street trees and put in bollards. This isn’t hard to solve in ways that would benefit everyone.
