UPDATE: The Des Moines Yacht Club’s annual Lighted Boat Parade – set for Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 – was canceled due to weather.

“The Lighted Boat Parade was canceled,” participant Patti Linscott told South King Media. “Water is too rough and wind is too ‘blewy.'”

The illuminated parade usually offers a dazzling display on the water, spreading seasonal cheer to onlookers along the shoreline, from Des Moines all the way up to Burien’s Three Tree Point.

The Lighted Boat Parade is a long-standing tradition in Des Moines, bringing together the boating community and residents for a festive celebration of the holiday season.
